Rottal Estate is located in Glen Clova, the largest of the Angus Glens. The estate is approximately 8,000 acres and ranges from 800 to nearly 3,000 ft above sea level. Rottal is privately owned and run in a traditional way with all the shooting, fishing, stalking and farming in-hand. The owners live on the estate and are actively involved in running it on a day to day basis. We have a flock of 800 Scottish Blackface sheep that are looked after by our shepherd in a traditional way, spending the summer months grazing the hills and coming back down to the low ground for winter. The environment is very important to us and as well as a substantial tree and hedge planting programme we have also built a 450kW Hydro-electric scheme that supplies enough power to the national grid to power approximately 500 homes
